MY DAY WITH TINA AND ERICA CAMPBELL – (Mary Mary)
When I got the call that I was on a select list of journalists to interview Mary Mary at the wetv headquarters in New York, I am almost sure that I spun two times. Yes, I have always been a follower of their music and then their recently concluded reality show, The Mary Mary Show for a while now – and so when the opportunity presented itself for me to interview Grammy award-winning duo, I counted it all joy. The main reason for the interview was to talk about their reality show, new music and their solo careers. The ladies were down to earth, exhumed humility and they never shied away from the controversial questions. They also loved my accent: “Oh my God, I could just listen to you talk all day. Your accent is so nice and thick!” Said Tina Campbell.
Unfortunately ...
It was the next day, and I couldn’t wait to edit the video. I had interviewed one of the greatest gospel artists of all time and I could not wait to watch the footage. Ladies and gentlemen, I am almost sure that my videographer for the day captured something great. Unfortunately, to my surprise, my vision did not match up with what I was viewing. Maybe the videographer was nervous or just too sure, but the quality of the footage I received was horrible and I wasn’t willing to put my face or the Mary’s out there with a crummy-looking video that was sloppy and poorly-shot. People; trust me when I tell you that not even good editing skills could save the eighteen minutes footage. Nevertheless, luckily the videographer was able to capture some stills while videoing the ladies and me
